Overview

YHP2511 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) small molecule therapy being developed by Yuhan Corporation for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. It contains two active ingredients: pitavastatin and ezetimibe. Pitavastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis, leading to an upregulation of LDL receptors and increased clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood. Ezetimibe is a selective cholesterol absorption inhibitor that targets the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) protein in the small intestine, reducing the delivery of intestinal cholesterol to the liver. By combining these two mechanisms—inhibiting both synthesis and absorption—YHP2511 aims to achieve more effective reduction of LDL cholesterol levels than either agent alone. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to establish bioequivalence between different formulations.
