Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yi An Shi (怡安适) is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by Shanghai Yidao Biotechnology and Jiangsu Zhonghui Yuantong Biotechnology for the prevention of herpes zoster (shingles) in adults aged 40 and older. The vaccine utilizes the Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) glycoprotein E (gE) as the primary antigen, which is expressed in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. It is designed to elicit a robust immune response, including both antigen-specific cellular and humoral immunity, to prevent the reactivation of latent VZV. Clinical development has included randomized, double-blind trials comparing commercial-scale and clinical-scale formulations to ensure consistency in safety and immunogenicity.
