Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yi Huo Hua Tan (YHF) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed for the treatment of stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The formula is composed of fifteen Chinese medicinal herbs, including Hedysarum Multijugum Maxim., Codonopsis Radix, and Arum Ternatum Thunb., and is designed according to the TCM principle of "tonifying Qi, dispersing blood stasis, and dissolving phlegm." Systems pharmacology analysis indicates that YHF exerts its therapeutic effects by alleviating chronic airway inflammation, decreasing mucus hypersecretion, and restoring immune homeostasis. It modulates multiple biological targets, including inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β), growth factor receptors (EGFR), and enzymes involved in airway remodeling and hypercoagulability. Clinical trials conducted at West China Hospital have demonstrated that YHF significantly improves TCM syndrome scores, reduces annual exacerbations, and enhances lung function in COPD patients.
