Overview
The Yi-Qi-Qing-Jie formula (YQF) is a multi-herb traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound developed by Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences for the treatment of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). It consists of extracts from eight medicinal plants: *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Saposhnikovia divaricata*, *Flos lonicerae*, *Angelica sinensis*, *Dioscorea nipponica*, *Hedyotis diffusa*, *Rhubarb*, and *Spatholobus suberectus*. YQF is hypothesized to exert renal protective effects through anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory mechanisms, with dioscin identified as a key active constituent. The formula is being studied in the TCM-WINE trial as an adjunctive therapy to standard immunosuppressants (prednisolone and cyclophosphamide) to improve renal outcomes and reduce treatment-related toxicity in patients at high risk of progressing to end-stage renal disease.
