Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yi Shen Tiao Gan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula widely used in China. It is primarily prescribed for the treatment of aromatase inhibitor–associated bone loss (AIBL), particularly in breast cancer patients undergoing endocrine therapy with aromatase inhibitors. The formula is believed to work by promoting the formation of H-type blood vessels in bone tissue and upregulating Slit guidance ligand 3 (SLIT3), a proangiogenic factor secreted by osteoblasts that supports angiogenesis and osteogenesis coupling within the bone microenvironment. This mechanism helps decelerate bone loss associated with reduced estrogen levels during aromatase inhibitor therapy[6][3]. Yi Shen Tiao Gan is also referenced as a general kidney- and liver-tonifying prescription in TCM, but its most documented modern clinical use relates to AIBL.
