Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yi Shen Xie Zhuo (YSXZF) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription developed from classic formulas Mulizexie powder and Buyanghuanwu Decoction. It consists of four herbs and is used primarily for the treatment of kidney diseases, particularly to address qi deficiency and blood stasis syndromes. Preclinical studies have shown that YSXZF can alleviate cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) by reducing apoptosis and inflammation in renal tissues. Mechanistically, it downregulates pro-apoptotic proteins such as cleaved caspase-3 and BAX while upregulating anti-apoptotic BCL-2 protein. It also suppresses cGAS/STING pathway activation, reduces oxidative stress (ROS), improves mitochondrial membrane potential, and decreases markers of kidney injury such as KIM-1[1].
