YIC therapeutic hepatitis B vaccine is an antigen-antibody immunocomplex (AIC) therapeutic vaccine candidate developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). It consists of yeast-derived hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) complexed with human hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIG) in a specific ratio, typically formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to overcome the immune tolerance observed in CHB patients by facilitating the uptake of HBsAg by dendritic cells through Fc gamma receptor-mediated endocytosis. This enhanced antigen presentation is intended to stimulate potent HBV-specific T-cell responses, particularly CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, to clear virus-infected hepatocytes. Developed by researchers at Fudan University in collaboration with Shenzhen Kangtai Biological Products and Beijing Ditan Hospital, YIC has been evaluated in multiple clinical trials, including a large-scale Phase 3 study in China targeting HBeAg-positive treatment-naïve adults.
