Yidan Gao

Yidan Gao (胰瘅膏) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) external preparation developed by Chengdu Integrated TCM and Western Medicine Hospital. It is formulated as a paste for topical application, intended to treat "pancreatic dampness" (胰瘅), a TCM diagnosis often associated with conditions like pancreatitis. The preparation consists of a blend of seven herbal ingredients: raw rhubarb (生大黄), phellodendron amurense (黄柏), bletilla striata (白芨), fructus mume (乌梅), peppermint (薄荷), angelica dahurica (白芷), and carbonized palm (棕榈炭), which are ground into a powder and mixed with honey to form a paste. It is applied to the left and upper-middle abdomen to alleviate symptoms such as abdominal distension and pain, promoting recovery. The mechanism of action is based on the synergistic effects of its herbal components according to TCM principles.
