yifenidone

Yifenidone (also known as HEC585 or yinfenidone hydrochloride) is a Class 1 innovative small molecule drug developed by Sunshine Lake Pharma (HEC Pharm) for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It functions through a broad anti-fibrotic mechanism, synergistically inhibiting multiple pathways including the suppression of inflammatory cytokines, fibroblast proliferation and activation, and collagen synthesis. Preclinical data suggests yifenidone is significantly more potent than pirfenidone, with an IC50 for fibroblast proliferation inhibition 200-500 times lower. It is designed for once-daily oral administration due to its long half-life and has been granted Orphan Drug Designation by the U.S. FDA. The drug is currently in Phase III clinical trials for IPF.
