Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yigong san granules (also known as Yigong Powder) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed as a modern pharmaceutical granule by Shineway Pharmaceutical Group. The formula is a classic modification of Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) and is composed of five primary herbal ingredients: Panax ginseng (or Codonopsis pilosula), Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and Citrus reticulata (dried tangerine peel). Traditionally used to tonify spleen qi, regulate qi flow, and harmonize the stomach, Yigong san granules are being clinically evaluated in Phase II trials for the treatment of anemia of chronic disease (specifically spleen qi deficiency syndrome) in patients with stage 3-4 chronic kidney disease. The formula is thought to improve nutritional status, regulate iron homeostasis (potentially by downregulating hepcidin/HAMP expression), and support hematopoiesis.
