Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yigongsan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula composed of five primary ingredients: Panax ginseng (or Codonopsis pilosula), Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and Citrus reticulata. It is a classic modification of the Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) with the addition of dried tangerine peel (Chenpi). Developed as a modern pharmaceutical granule by Shineway Pharmaceutical Group, it is currently being investigated in Phase II clinical trials for the treatment of anemia of chronic disease (specifically spleen qi deficiency syndrome) in patients with stage 3-4 chronic kidney disease. The formula is traditionally used to tonify spleen qi, regulate qi flow, and harmonize the stomach, which in a modern clinical context is intended to improve nutritional status and support hematopoiesis.
