Overview
Yiguanjian is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction used primarily for treating chronic liver diseases, including liver cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis. First recorded in the Qing Dynasty, the formula typically consists of six herbs: *Rehmannia glutinosa*, *Lycium barbarum*, *Glehnia littoralis*, *Ophiopogon japonicus*, *Angelica sinensis*, and *Melia toosendan*. In modern clinical research, it is evaluated for its efficacy in treating liver cirrhosis resulting from Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection, specifically targeting the "Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency" syndrome. Its mechanism of action is thought to involve anti-fibrotic effects, regulation of hepatic stellate cell activation, and modulation of inflammatory pathways, including the inhibition of TGF-beta1 signaling.
