Overview

Yin Chen Wu Ling San is a traditional Chinese herbal formula used primarily to address patterns of stagnant heat and dampness in the body. It is a modification of the classic Wu Ling San formula with the addition of yin chen hao (capillary artemisia herb), which enhances its ability to clear damp-heat—especially in cases involving jaundice or decreased urination due to yang deficiency and full-body damp accumulation. The formula promotes urination, drains dampness, strengthens the spleen, warms yang energy, supports qi transformation functions, clears damp-heat from the liver and gallbladder regions (often manifesting as jaundice), and treats symptoms such as edema or heaviness. Its mechanism is based on synergistic effects of its herbal components rather than targeting specific molecular pathways[1][3][4][6][7]. The main ingredients are: - Capillary artemisia herb (yin chen) - Alisma root (ze xie) - Polyporus sclerotium (zhu ling) - Hoelen fungus/poria (fu ling) - Atractylodes root (bai zhu) - Cinnamon twig/cortex (gui zhi)[1][3][7]
