Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yin Qiao San is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula first recorded in 1798 AD. It is primarily used as an early intervention for upper respiratory tract infections presenting with wind-heat symptoms such as fever, sore throat, headache, nasal congestion, slight chills, and body aches. The formula’s principal ingredients are honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua) and forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao), supported by other herbs including burdock fruit (Niu Bang Zi), platycodon root (Jie Geng), peppermint leaf (Bo He), fermented soybean (Dan Dou Chi), schizonepeta herb (Jing Jie), lophatherum leaf (Dan Zhu Ye), licorice root (Gan Cao), and phragmites rhizome (Lu Gen). Yin Qiao San works by dispersing wind-heat from the exterior of the body while clearing internal heat and resolving toxicity. Modern research attributes anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral effects to its components. It is widely used in China and internationally as a natural remedy for colds/flu-like illnesses[1][4][5][7].
