Yinchen Linggui decoction

Yinchen Linggui decoction (also known as Yinchen Linggui Zhugan decoction or YLZD) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed and evaluated by Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. It is a combination of two classic TCM formulas from the Treatise on Febrile Diseases (Shanghan Lun): Yinchenhao decoction and Linggui Zhugan decoction. The formula consists of seven Chinese herbs: Artemisiae scopariae (Yinchen), Gardeniae fructus (Zhizi), Radix rhei et rhizome (Dahuang), Poria (Fuling), Cinnamomi ramulus (Guizhi), Atractylodes macrocephala (Baizhu), and Licorice (Gancao). It is primarily developed for the treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Yinchen Linggui decoction exerts its therapeutic effects by regulating lipid metabolism, reducing oxidative stress, and attenuating hepatic inflammation. Its mechanisms of action include the activation of the SIRT1/Nrf2 signaling pathway, downregulation of the TNF-alpha and NF-kB inflammatory pathways, and modulation of the gut microbiota (such as increasing short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria).
