Yingyang Bao

Yingyang Bao (YYB) is a standardized, soy-based complementary food supplement (CFS) designed to address micronutrient deficiencies, particularly iron-deficiency anemia and stunting, in infants and young children. Developed through a collaboration between the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), UNICEF, and other partners like DSM, the supplement is typically distributed in 20g sachets containing a blend of full-fat soybean powder fortified with essential vitamins (A, D, B1, B2, B12, and folic acid) and minerals (iron, zinc, and calcium). Since its pilot launch in 2001 and subsequent national scale-up in China, YYB has become a cornerstone of public health interventions in rural areas. Beyond pediatric use, clinical trials have investigated its efficacy in improving the nutritional and functional status of elderly populations and as an adjunct therapy to enhance treatment outcomes in patients with tuberculosis.
