Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yinhu Qingwen Granula is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation presented in granule form. It consists of 11 common non-toxic herbs, including Polygonum cuspidatum (Japanese knotweed), Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica), Nepeta (Schizonepeta), and Ligustrum lucidum among others[1][2][6]. The formula is designed based on TCM principles to "clear heat and detoxify," with the primary clinical use being the treatment of viral respiratory infections such as COVID-19. Preclinical studies have shown antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 in vivo. Clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate its efficacy and safety for mild, common, and severe COVID-19 cases; these trials are at Phase 2/3 status[1][2][6]. The mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but is presumed to involve broad immunomodulatory effects and possible direct antiviral activity.
