Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yinhuang lozenges is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed and manufactured by Hebei Sams Pharmaceutical. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, including acute and chronic tonsillitis, as well as acute and chronic pharyngolaryngitis. The formulation consists of extracts from two key medicinal herbs: Flos Lonicerae (honeysuckle flower) and Radix Scutellariae (skullcap root). The primary active pharmaceutical components are chlorogenic acid (derived from honeysuckle) and baicalin (derived from skullcap), typically maintained in a 1:2 ratio. In TCM terminology, the drug functions through 'heat-clearing and detoxicating' (清热解毒) actions. The lozenge dosage form is specifically designed to allow the active ingredients to maintain prolonged contact with the infected mucosal tissues in the throat, providing localized anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.
