Overview

Yinqiaosan granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation prepared in granule form, derived from the classic TCM formula Yinqiaosan (Yin Qiao San or Yinqiao powder). Originally documented in the Qing Dynasty medical text Detailed Analysis of Epidemic Warm Diseases by Wu Jutong, the formula is composed of nine primary herbs: Flos Lonicerae Japonicae (Jinyinhua), Fructus Forsythiae (Lianqiao), Herba Menthae (Bohe), Herba Schizonepetae (Jingjie), Fructus Arctii (Niubangzhi), Radix Platycodonis (Jiegeng), Semen Sojae Preparatum (Dandouchi), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao), and Herba Lophatheri (Danzhuye). Yinqiaosan granules are widely used to treat wind-heat exterior syndromes, including the common cold, influenza, fever, sore throat, and acute tonsillitis. The formulation exhibits anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. It is being evaluated in clinical trials, such as those sponsored by the Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, to assess its efficacy in reducing antibiotic use and improving clinical outcomes in pediatric patients with acute tonsillitis.
