Overview
Yinxieling tablets are a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Professor Guowei Xuan at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. It has been used for over 20 years as a hospital preparation for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris and chronic plaque psoriasis. The formula consists of ten botanical ingredients: *Angelica sinensis* (danggui), *Radix Paeoniae Rubra* (chi shao), *Chloranthus spicatus*, smoked plum (*Fructus Mume*), *Radix Rehmanniae* (sheng dihuang), *Ligusticum wallichii* (chuanxiong), *Radix Lithospermi* (zi cao), *Curcuma zedoaria* (e zhu), *Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae* (tu fuling), and liquorice (*Radix Glycyrrhizae*). Yinxieling tablets function by activating blood circulation, removing blood stasis, cooling blood, and detoxifying. Pharmacologically, the formula has been shown to modulate immune-mediated cells, regulate macrophage polarization (via NF-κB, STAT1, and STAT6 pathways), decrease serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-8 (IL-8), and promote keratinocyte apoptosis.
