Overview
Yinxing Tongzhi (also known as Ginkgo Ketone Ester) is a standardized pharmaceutical-grade extract derived from the leaves of *Ginkgo biloba*. Developed by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is characterized by a specific ratio of active components, primarily ginkgo flavone glycosides and terpene lactones (including ginkgolides A, B, C, and bilobalide). The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, such as coronary heart disease, stable angina pectoris, and cerebral infarction, by improving blood circulation, reducing blood viscosity, and providing neuroprotective effects. It functions by scavenging free radicals, inhibiting platelet-activating factor (PAF), and enhancing vasodilation. In China, it is regulated as a pharmaceutical product and has been evaluated in Phase 4 pharmacokinetic studies to assess its safety and vascular endothelial function in healthy subjects.
