Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YiQi GuBen (YQGB) is a traditional Chinese medicinal formula investigated for its therapeutic effects, primarily in asthma. It has been shown to alleviate airway inflammation and remodeling in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma models. Its mechanism of action involves suppressing the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway, which leads to a reduction in inflammatory mediators such as IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, Eotaxin, ECP, GM-CSF, LTC4, and LTD4. YQGB also improves mitochondrial dysfunction by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, increasing mitochondrial membrane potential and number, and upregulating the expression of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) copy number, PGC-1α, and TFAM. Furthermore, it mitigates subepithelial fibrosis by lowering TGF-β1, E-Cadherin, Vimentin, and Fibronectin, and ameliorates airway smooth muscle thickening by lessening α-SMA and PDGF levels. YQGB also inhibits PDGF-BB-induced proliferation and migration of airway smooth muscle cells and suppresses the release of inflammatory factors like TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8.
