Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Huayu Jiedu Mixture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of supratentorial hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH). The mixture is composed of three primary herbal ingredients: red ginseng (*Panax ginseng*), *Panax notoginseng*, and raw rhubarb (*Rheum palmatum*). It is specifically indicated for non-surgical patients exhibiting the TCM syndrome of 'Qi deficiency with blood stasis and toxin-induced injury to the brain collaterals.' The therapeutic rationale involves a multi-target approach aimed at promoting the absorption of the hematoma, reducing perihematomal edema, and mitigating secondary brain injury through anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective pathways. It is currently being evaluated in large-scale clinical trials to determine its efficacy in improving long-term functional outcomes, as measured by the modified Rankin Scale, and reducing mortality and disability.
