Overview
Yiqi Jianpi Tongqiao decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily investigated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis in children, particularly those exhibiting the Lung and Spleen Qi Deficiency pattern. Developed and studied by The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, the decoction is designed to alleviate nasal symptoms by modulating the immune response. Its mechanism involves balancing the Th1/Th2 cytokine ratio, specifically by reducing levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and increasing interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in the serum. Research into the decoction also employs metabonomics to identify metabolic biomarkers and clarify the systemic effects of the treatment.
