Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Sanjie formula is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) polyherbal formulation widely used in China for the treatment of various cancers, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and colorectal cancer. It is typically administered as an adjunct to standard chemotherapy regimens to enhance efficacy and reduce side effects. The formula contains multiple herbal components; key active compounds identified include bifendate, xambioona, hederagenin, and peiminine. Mechanistically, the formula exerts antitumor effects by targeting several molecular pathways involved in cell cycle regulation (notably CCND1/cyclin D1 and CDK4), growth factor signaling (EGFR), apoptosis induction, autophagy modulation, immune response regulation, and possibly metabolic enzymes such as ADH1B. Preclinical studies demonstrate that it can inhibit tumor proliferation and induce apoptosis in cancer cells while reducing chemotherapy-induced toxicity. Clinical evidence supports its use for improving disease-free survival rates in stage III colorectal cancer patients when combined with standard therapies[1][2][3][4][5].
