Overview

Yiqi Tongluo capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the prevention of coronary artery restenosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The capsule is designed to replenish Qi and unblock collaterals, which in a clinical context translates to improving microcirculation, reducing vascular inflammation, and inhibiting the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells that contribute to stent restenosis. It has been evaluated in multicenter randomized controlled trials in China to assess its efficacy in reducing major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and the incidence of restenosis after stenting.
