Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Tongluo Prescription is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) multi-herbal formulation widely used in China for the treatment of diabetic microvascular complications, particularly diabetic nephropathy (DN). It is also studied for its protective effects against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and other chronic conditions. The prescription typically consists of multiple herbal ingredients (exact composition may vary by manufacturer or clinical context). Mechanistically, Yiqi Tongluo Prescription has been shown in preclinical studies to reduce serum urea levels, decrease urine microalbumin excretion, protect renal function in type 1 diabetes mellitus models, and alleviate inflammation. Transcriptomic analyses suggest that its renoprotective effects are closely related to modulation of the IL-17 signaling pathway and downregulation of inflammation-related genes. Additional reported actions include reduction of serum adhesion molecule VCAM1 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), improvement in renal histopathology, and general anti-inflammatory activity[3][4]. The formula is attributed to Academician Tong Xiaolin as a commonly used clinical prescription[3].
