Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Tongluo Xiezhuo recipe is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used primarily for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially in patients with Qi deficiency, blood stasis, and damp-heat syndrome. The formula is based on TCM principles aiming to "replenish Qi," "unblock collaterals," and "remove turbidity." Clinical studies indicate that it can improve renal function by reducing blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine levels. Mechanistically, it appears to enhance mitochondrial function in renal tissue by upregulating key enzymes of the tricarboxylic acid cycle and increasing mitochondrial complex activity. It also modulates apoptosis-related proteins—upregulating NR4A1 and Bcl-2 while downregulating caspase-3 and caspase-9—thereby inhibiting cell apoptosis induced by TGF-β1[1][2][3]. The precise herbal composition may vary but typically includes herbs known for their roles in tonifying Qi, activating blood circulation, resolving stasis, and clearing heat/dampness.
