Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Wenjing formula (YQWJF) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal composition developed by the Jiangsu Province Hospital on Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine. It is specifically designed to prevent and treat oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity (OIPN) in patients with colorectal cancer, including colon adenocarcinoma. The formula is based on the TCM therapeutic principles of tonifying Qi (Yiqi) and warming the meridians (Wenjing) to promote blood circulation and alleviate pain. Pharmacological studies indicate that YQWJF exerts neuroprotective effects by activating the Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) signaling pathway, which mitigates oxidative stress and inhibits the apoptosis of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. Additionally, it has been shown to reduce neuroinflammation and improve nerve conduction velocity in clinical and preclinical models.
