Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi-wenyang formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal preparation developed by Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences for the treatment of myasthenia gravis (MG). The formula is based on the TCM therapeutic principle of 'supplementing Qi and warming Yang' (Yiqi Wenyang), which aims to address the underlying 'deficiency of spleen and kidney' believed to cause muscle weakness and fatigue in MG patients. In clinical studies, including real-world case registrations, the formula is evaluated for its ability to improve clinical scores (such as the MG-ADL and QMG scores) and modulate immune responses, specifically by regulating T-cell subsets and reducing pathogenic autoantibody levels. It is often used as an adjunctive therapy alongside standard Western treatments like pyridostigmine or corticosteroids.
