Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Wenyang Huoxue Recipe is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation used primarily for the treatment of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases such as hypertension, asthma, coronary artery disease, and cardiac dysfunction. The recipe is based on TCM principles of supplementing Qi (vital energy), warming Yang (restoring body heat/energy), and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. Mechanistically, it has been shown to improve Na+/H+ ion transport in cells by inhibiting the activity of Na+/H+ exchangers[1]. Clinical studies have investigated its effects on improving cardiopulmonary exercise tolerance in patients with stable coronary artery disease and cardiac dysfunction[2]. It may also exert protective effects against cardiovascular complications associated with chronic kidney disease through modulation of gut microbiota and inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation[2]. The precise herbal composition can vary but typically includes multiple herbs aimed at synergistically addressing Qi deficiency and blood stasis.
