Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqi Yangyin Huoxue Lishui is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula utilized by Chongqing Aier Eye Hospital for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME). The formula's name reflects its core therapeutic principles in TCM: supplementing Qi (Yiqi), nourishing Yin (Yangyin), promoting blood circulation to resolve stasis (Huoxue), and inducing diuresis to alleviate edema (Lishui). In clinical research, it is evaluated as an adjunctive therapy alongside anti-VEGF agents like aflibercept. The formula is designed to address the underlying pathological patterns of Qi and Yin deficiency and blood stasis, which are believed to contribute to retinal microvascular leakage and fluid accumulation in diabetic retinopathy. By improving microcirculation and promoting the absorption of subretinal fluid, the formula aims to enhance visual acuity and reduce central macular thickness in patients with DME.
