yiqi yangyin quyu

Yiqi Yangyin Quyu is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (also known as Xinhua Hospital of Zhejiang Province) specifically for the treatment of primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS). The formula is designed based on the TCM therapeutic principles of supplementing Qi (Yiqi), nourishing Yin (Yangyin), and removing blood stasis (Quyu), which target the underlying pathology of Qi-Yin deficiency and blood stasis common in pSS patients. Clinical research indicates that the formula effectively alleviates symptoms of xerostomia (dry mouth) and xerophthalmia (dry eyes) while reducing systemic inflammatory markers such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and immunoglobulin G (IgG). Mechanistically, it is thought to modulate the immune response by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines and potentially upregulating water channel proteins in the salivary and lacrimal glands.
