Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yiqing Granules (一清颗粒) is a traditional Chinese medicine compound granule formulation composed of extracts from Coptis chinensis (黄连), Rheum palmatum (大黄), and Scutellaria baicalensis (黄芩). It is officially listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The product is used for its heat-clearing, fire-purging, detoxifying effects as well as promoting blood circulation and hemostasis. Clinically, it is primarily indicated for conditions attributed to "fire toxin" and "blood heat," such as fever with irritability, mouth ulcers or sores on the tongue and lips, red eyes, sore throat or gum swelling/pain, constipation due to internal heat, hemorrhoidal bleeding, pharyngitis and gingivitis. Its mechanism of action involves anti-inflammatory effects and modulation of immune response through multiple active phytochemicals including baicalin (from Scutellaria), berberine (from Coptis), emodin/rhein/physcion/aloe-emodin/chrysophanol/aurantio-obtusin derivatives (from Rheum). The precise molecular targets are not fully elucidated but are believed to involve inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress pathways[4][5][7][8][10].
