Yishen Granules

Yishen Granules (益神颗粒) is a general term used for several Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulations, often implying benefits to the spirit or mind, and kidney function. Due to the broad nature of the name, different specific formulations exist with varying compositions and indications. For example, Shuangshen Yishen Granules (双参益神颗粒) is a Chinese patent medicine composed of American ginseng and royal jelly, traditionally used to benefit qi, tonify the kidney, and calm the spirit, addressing neurasthenia symptoms such as insomnia, dreaminess, dizziness, and fatigue. Another formulation, Yishen Huashi Granules (益神化湿颗粒), is recommended for chronic (glomerular) nephritis and diabetic nephropathy, with effects such as tonifying yang, benefiting kidneys, eliminating dampness, and promoting diuresis. Cistanche Yishen Granules (肉苁蓉益神颗粒) has been studied for its efficacy in treating tinnitus in patients with chronic nephritis. Additionally, a formulation referred to as Yishen Granules (YSG) has been investigated for its potential in improving cognitive function in elderly patients with mild cognitive impairment.
