Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yishen Huashi Granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed and manufactured by Guangzhou Consun Pharmaceutical. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients including ginseng, astragalus, atractylodes macrocephala, poria cocos, alisma orientale, pinellia ternata (processed), notopterygium root, angelica pubescens root, saposhnikovia divaricata root, bupleurum chinense root, coptis chinensis rhizome, paeonia lactiflora root (white peony), dried tangerine peel (chenpi), honey-fried licorice root (zhigancao), fresh ginger and jujube. The granule is brown with a bitter taste. The main clinical indications are chronic glomerulonephritis with spleen deficiency and dampness syndrome presenting as proteinuria with edema and fatigue. Pharmacological studies show it can reduce proteinuria and serum creatinine in animal models of nephritis; clinical studies suggest it improves renal function markers such as serum creatinine and urea nitrogen in patients with chronic kidney disease or diabetic nephropathy. Its mechanism involves tonifying the kidney and spleen while promoting diuresis to eliminate dampness; recent research also suggests modulation of the gut-kidney axis may play a role in its efficacy for diabetic kidney disease. Yishen Huashi Granules is typically used orally by dissolving one sachet in hot water three times daily for two months per treatment course. It is often used adjunctively with ACE inhibitors or ARBs for enhanced effect on renal outcomes without increasing adverse events[1][2][3][4][5][6].
