Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yishen Paidu Formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal combination primarily developed by Wuhan Union Hospital for the treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). It is composed of four key herbs: Rheum officinale, Astragalus membranaceus, Bombyx batryticatus, and Hirudo. According to TCM principles, this formula works by nourishing Qi and kidney, ascending lucidity and descending turbidity, activating blood circulation, and removing blood stasis. Modern pharmacological studies suggest that its therapeutic effects in CKD are partly mediated through the inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, contributing to its anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and kidney-protective properties.
