Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yishen Qingdu Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Jilin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and chronic renal failure. The preparation is formulated based on TCM principles aimed at tonifying the kidney, activating blood circulation, and clearing dampness and toxins. It typically consists of a complex mixture of herbal extracts, including *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Rheum palmatum* (Dahuang), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), and *Poria cocos* (Fuling). Mechanistically, the drug is designed to improve renal function by reducing serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels, decreasing proteinuria, and inhibiting renal interstitial fibrosis. Research suggests it acts by modulating the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway and suppressing pro-inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α and IL-6, thereby slowing the progression of renal damage.
