Overview
YiShen QingLi HuoXue Formula (YQHF), also known as Qixue Extract, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed at the Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine (Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine) for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and renal fibrosis. The formula consists of 11 herbal ingredients: Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi), Angelica sinensis (Danggui), Achyranthes bidentata (Niuxi), Smilax glabra (Tufuling), Pyrrosia lingua (Shiwei), Centella asiatica (Jixuecao), Serissa japonica (Liuyuexue), Polygonatum sibiricum (Huangjing), Rheum officinale (Shudahuang), Abelmoschus manihot (Huangshukuahua), and Reynoutria japonica (Huzhang). YQHF exerts its therapeutic effects by suppressing mTOR activation, promoting TFEB nuclear translocation, enhancing lysosomal function, and inhibiting the indoxyl sulfate-mediated AhR/Snai1 and HIF-1α signaling pathways, thereby attenuating renal interstitial fibrosis and tubular injury.
