Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yishen Qufeng is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine). It is specifically indicated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The formula is designed based on the TCM therapeutic principle of 'tonifying the kidney and dispelling wind,' addressing the pathogenesis of renal deficiency and the invasion of external or internal 'wind' pathogens that contribute to proteinuria. Clinical and preclinical research suggests that Yishen Qufeng exerts its therapeutic effects by reducing urinary albumin excretion, protecting podocytes from injury, and inhibiting renal fibrosis. These effects are likely mediated through the modulation of the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway and the inhibition of inflammatory mediators such as NF-κB.
