Yishen Tongbi decoction (YSTB) is a traditional Chinese herbal compound prescribed for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is composed of six medicinal herbs: Tripterygium wilfordii Hook.f, Eucommia ulmoides Oliv., Ligustrum lucidum W.T.Aiton, Eclipta prostrata (L.) L., Lycium barbarum L., and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge. YSTB has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, inhibits synovial hyperplasia, improves bone destruction, and can inhibit the activation and proliferation of B cells while promoting their apoptosis. It has shown a faster clinical remission rate compared to methotrexate (MTX) in RA treatment and is protected by Patent No. ZL 2010110191532.X.
