Overview
Yishen Yangxin Anshen tablets (益肾养心安神片) are a patented traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Yiling Pharmaceutical. Approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in September 2021, the drug is indicated for the treatment of insomnia and sleep disturbances, particularly those characterized by fitful or dream-disturbed sleep, palpitations, mental fatigue, forgetfulness, dizziness, and soreness or weakness of the waist and knees. The formulation consists of ten traditional Chinese herbs, including Semen Ziziphi Spinosae (炒酸枣仁), Radix Polygoni Multiflori Praeparata (制何首乌), Fructus Mori (桑椹), Bulbus Lilii (百合), Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae (丹参), Ganoderma (灵芝), Poria (茯苓), Rhizoma Anemarrhenae (知母), Flos Albiziae (合欢花), and Flos Chrysanthemi (菊花). It exerts its therapeutic effects by tonifying the kidney, nourishing the heart, and calming the mind, and has been shown in pharmacodynamic studies to protect hippocampal neurons and inhibit the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.
