Overview
Yishenxiaozheng Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Dongfang Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, primarily for the treatment of endometriosis and associated dysmenorrhea. The formula is based on the therapeutic principle of tonifying the kidney and resolving blood stasis to alleviate pain and reduce pelvic masses (zhengjia). It is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Angelica sinensis*, *Sparganium stoloniferum*, and *Curcuma phaeocaulis*. Mechanistically, Yishenxiaozheng Granule has been shown to inhibit the growth and invasion of ectopic endometrial tissue by downregulating pro-angiogenic factors such as Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and reducing the levels of inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-8. Additionally, it promotes apoptosis in endometrial cells by modulating the Bcl-2/Bax ratio and activating caspase pathways. It is currently utilized as a hospital preparation and has been the subject of various clinical trials in China to evaluate its efficacy and safety.
