Overview

Yiwei Jiaohuang Ointment is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the China-Japan Friendship Hospital for the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding, particularly cases associated with the use of oral antithrombotic agents. The formula is composed of four primary herbal ingredients: Duyiwei (Lamiophlomis Herb), raw Da Huang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome), Bai Ji (Bletilla Rhizome), and Ejiao (donkey-hide gelatin). These components are traditionally recognized for their hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, and mucosal-protective properties. Administered orally as a paste or ointment, the drug aims to accelerate the conversion of fecal occult blood tests to negative results and promote the healing of the gastric mucosa in patients whose bleeding is exacerbated by antithrombotic therapy.
