Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yixin Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily developed and utilized for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) and coronary heart disease. The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of tonifying Qi, nourishing Yin, and promoting blood circulation to resolve stasis. It typically consists of a specific combination of herbs, including *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Panax quinquefolius* (Xiyangshen), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), *Ophiopogon japonicus* (Maidong), and *Descurainia sophia* (Tinglizi). Pharmacological studies indicate that Yixin Fang exerts cardioprotective effects by inhibiting myocardial fibrosis, reducing ventricular remodeling, and improving cardiac function. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway to suppress the activation of cardiac fibroblasts and the regulation of the PI3K/Akt pathway to enhance cardiomyocyte survival and energy metabolism. It is frequently used as an adjunctive therapy alongside standard Western medical treatments for heart failure in clinical settings in China.
