Overview

Yiyang Huoluo Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation being evaluated for its safety and efficacy in treating senile atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Developed by researchers led by Xia Liang, the decoction is a complex mixture of twelve herbal and animal-derived ingredients, including Rehmanniae Radix, Dioscoreae Rhizoma, Cornus Officinalis Fructus, Alismatis Rhizoma, Poria Cocos, Moutan Cortex, Cinnamomi Ramulus, Astragali Radix, Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Pheretima, Persicae Semen, and Carthami Flos. It is hypothesized to promote vascular repair and improve cardiovascular function at the cellular level. In clinical studies, it is administered as oral granules in conjunction with conventional Western therapies such as antiplatelet agents and statins to address symptoms of stable angina pectoris and reduce atherosclerotic progression.
