Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Yizhiqingxin Formula (YQF/YZQX) is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation investigated for neurodegenerative diseases. Clinical studies are evaluating its efficacy in Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and mild cognitive impairment associated with hypertension. Preclinical research suggests that the formula improves cognitive function by exerting multiple effects, including reducing amyloid-beta plaques and tau hyperphosphorylation, which are hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease. [2, 7] Its mechanism involves the modulation of several biological pathways, such as enhancing autophagy through the mTOR signaling pathway and reducing neuroinflammation via the TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway. [2, 4] The formula is being developed and studied by institutions such as Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.
