Overview

YK-051 is an investigational small molecule analgesic developed by Nanjing Yoko Pharmaceutical Group. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development in China for the treatment of pain. YK-051 functions as a selective inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.8 (encoded by the SCN10A gene). Nav1.8 is primarily expressed in peripheral sensory neurons (nociceptors) and plays a critical role in the transmission of pain signals. By selectively blocking this channel, YK-051 aims to provide potent pain relief for acute or neuropathic conditions while minimizing the risk of central nervous system or cardiac side effects typically associated with non-selective sodium channel blockers or opioids.
