YK-1169

YK-1169 is a novel carbapenem antibiotic developed by Nanjing Libowei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of serious infections caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria. As a member of the carbapenem class, YK-1169 functions by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are essential enzymes involved in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. This inhibition disrupts cell wall assembly, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. The drug is currently in early-stage clinical development, with Phase I trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and potential drug-drug interactions in healthy volunteers. Its primary intended indications include complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI), complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI), and complicated lower respiratory tract infections (cLRTI).
