Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YK1601 is an inhalation solution formulation of pirfenidone, a small molecule anti-fibrotic agent, developed by Beijing Yingkerei Pharmaceutical Technology. It is specifically designed for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) via nebulized delivery. This route of administration is intended to enhance the local concentration of the drug in the lung tissue while reducing systemic exposure and associated side effects, such as gastrointestinal distress and photosensitivity, which are commonly observed with oral pirfenidone. Pirfenidone acts by inhibiting the production of pro-fibrotic cytokines, particularly transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta), and inflammatory mediators like tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). YK1601 is currently in the preclinical development stage.
